A Busy Holiday Part 1

Exam Week
- Pulled three all-nighters in a row (didn’t know I could do it, really), and STILL I felt like a failure. Peh. So caffeine really IS effective. And addicting. Hehehe…Have to catch up on my studies next grading period, or it’s goodbye Nursing for me.
Class Xmas Party
- Catered. Wanted to eat my heart out without showing my classmates what a pig I really am. Took a lot of self-control, coz the food was yuuuuumeeeeeeee. Teehee.
- Games. Lotsa games. Funny games. Didn’t get to play in any though. Names were pulled put of the hat and the piece of paper with my name on it, smart scrap that it was, stayed out of harm’s way and remained uncalled for the rest of the party. Had a lot of fun watching the others make fools out of themselves though.
- Mam G’s birthday surprise. Dunno whose idea it was, but it was very thoughtful of them. Apparently, very few knew our adviser’s birthday, and my classmates researched on it. They gave her a cake, some flowers and two of those door-plate-name thingies. One said ‘chem’ and the other said ‘zoo’. Speech speech. Tears. Laughter. So much emotion. Didn’t finish the party though. Wanted to go home early to get some sleep before the Paskuhan.
Paskuhan
- Saich and Rica came over my place to get dressed. Saich was going to spend the night here.
- all dressed up and ready to take over the catwalk. Of course, we went to the Benches to meet up with the others. Decided to get our pics taken. Saw Ran Ai Lang on the way back. Then saw RS. And THEN saw LT. Sheesh. Buti na lang I was dressed to kill that night. Hehe. The night was looking up!
- had a blast hanging out with the guys after eating free food. Marj and Rica were wearing these gorgeous boots, but I don’t think they’re used to wearing them. After some time, both were seen limping along behind us, muttering complaints and making us laugh all the way.
‘Kada Xmas Party
- Marj and I thought that it would be a good idea to hold a Christmas party with only our closest friends. So we planned it. Or rather, I planned it. Tita didn’t allow me to use our house as the venue. Di daw pwede, too noisy. May mga baby dito eh. No prob, Gian’s condo rooftop would do great. Planning this party would be easy. Pffffffffft.
- ever heard of the saying ‘Anything that can go wrong, will’? Optimistic idiot that I am, I never really believed it. Pfft. Moring of the long-planned ‘kada xmas party, Gian called and said the condo rooftop can’t be used. Pool-cleaning. Imagine how ballistic I went. There I was, still cooking the party food, and he tells me that party might be cancelled and that we do it another day. I told him, over and over ever since I started planning to reserve the place for that day, because that is the only available day for the others. Most of them were going back to the provinces the days after. He didn’t reserve it, sure that it would be ok to use it without reservation because he already lived in that building. How very wrong he was. Problem solved a little later. We’d have dinner at his place (since his folks would be out) and then climb to the rooftop at around 9pm.
- problem 2: food transpo. I asked Pao, also long ago, if he could pick us up at my place for the party. I needed help with all the food and stuff. He said yes. But he didn’t make sure the Revo was free for the night, so there. His mom had to use the car for that night too. So no transpo. I had to take about fifty deep breaths to calm myself. Solution: Pao’s mom will pick up the food and some of the other people who needed a ride and go straight to Gian’s condo. Marj, Pao and Aiza went on ahead. I had to stay behind and wait for Arvin and Kaye.
- problem 3: our transpo. Okay, so the food was ready, the venue was cleared and all the party needed were the guests (who, incidentally, were still gathered in my house coz they had no clue how to get to Gian’s). We needed a cab. No problem. We’ll hail cabs, easy. Right? Wrong. It just so happened that FPJ died and his funeral was still being held. So there was heavy traffic. Taxis wanted to avoid that route, which is the route that we have to take. I was feeling so down (not to mention exhausted) at that point, that I wondered if I would be in a party mood later. That is, if wever we make it to the party.
But all’s well that ends well. Everything worked out fine in the end. Even Gian’s mom said the food was great. Watched the fireworks displays (courtesy of GMA, which happened to be near G’s condo) while we were up on the rooftop. There was a little drama when Saich broke down. We miss a certain friend of ours. Kwento kwento. Drank a little when Kaye and Pao brought beer. Went to Starbucks for coffee before heading home. Everyone had a good time. Thank goodness.
(to be continued………) :D
