Power Outage Results to Perspiration…and Inspiration

I don’t know how, but it does. The resulting to inspiration I mean. A few days ago, as I was happily reading a Fuuko/Tokiya fic on my beloved computer, fate decided to play a game. Power outage in the entire block. Not very amusing, this game of his, because he picked an impeccable time, the time we’re supposed to go to bed. With nothing else to do, I unplugged my computer (need to prevent a power surge) and jumped into bed. I must’ve dozed off for an hour or so, but then the heat took its toll on me. I woke up in the middle of the night. I’ve been staring blankly at my ceiling for a long time when, luckily, the power came back on. Woke tita Ging up with my triumphant cry of “Yes!”.

It was a bit weird that I couldn’t get back to sleep when the sleeping conditions in my room was back to normal. I dunno why but, I wasn’t able to go back to sleep right away. Kept tossing and turing on my bed…when a new idea for a fanfic came to me. Recca/Fuuko. Mwaha. Don’t ask me why, I really don’t know where I got it from. Finished writing it the other night

If anyone’s interested in reading it:
Shall We Dance?

Don’t forget to review, ‘ayt?

Blame It On the Weatherman

Xtopher outing was cancelled because of the freakin’ rain. Damnit. Nelson asked if we were still up to go out some other time. I really don’t know ‘bout that, since the new school year’s about to start and I want to maximize my sleeping and downtime here at home. And also, I don’t know if my folks are going to approve of another outing. Actually, the Ghorjus are also clamoring for a gimmick before summer vacation ends. Hay nako. Hirap ng walang pera. Gusto pa naman ng mga yon, all-out palagi, though they wouldn’t admit it.

Enrolled quite late yesterday, because Tita still had to withdraw money from the bank. No matter though, got enrolled anyway. That’s what mattered. Got my sched for the 1st semester, and damn is it crazy. It’d take a while before I could get used to it.

Saw quite a few of my former and future classmates. Also saw my 1dPh friends, who also had their enrollment scheduled yesterday. Even saw Richard, who was working as one of the encoders and looking as hot as ever. Punieta. I may be over the guy, but I couldn’t deny that he was very much attractive. Damn him.

Didn’t get very far either, because of the rain. None of us wanted to take the chance of becoming stranded in a mall far away from home, so we just decided to grab lunch and then see some movies at Sala.

Had a fun time arguing with Buen and Frederick over where we should eat. Frederick, so landi, didn’t like carinderias kasi daw walang air-con. Buen didn’t want to eat in a fast food because he says his house is surrounded by fast food restos, at sawa na siya. In the end, the carinderias won out, because all the other restos were full (lunch hour kasi noon). Hey, food’s not bad noh, and you get to save money too. Already had my hepatitis shots so I’m not afraid.

Sala, the chill out station next to KFC, rents out small air-conditioned audio-video rooms. It had wide screen TVs, surround sound systems and comfy beanbag chairs or couches for your viewing pleasure, and you can take your pick of any movie they had available It’s like having your own private cinema, only much more comfortable, and cheaper. ^___^; We were feeling kind of generous yesterday, since the money we could’ve spent in the malls were still safe in our pockets. Watched 2 movies.

First one was Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Jim Carrey outdid himself once more, when he acted out three different wacko roles. I greatly admire Violet, with her strange black dress and very unique hairstyle. Found Sunny very adorable, especially when she babytalks. She could say something as short as “Da!” and it’d mean “She’s the Mayor of Crazy Town!. The movie had a weird sense of humor that some people just wouldn’t get, but I thought it was really good.

After that barrel of laughs, we got ourselves scared silly by a Thai horror flick called Shutter. Screamer movie, that one. Gads, we all anticipated when something truly scary would happen, we knew when it was coming but we (or was it just me? I couldn’t tell, I was so into it..ehehe..) still get surprised. Like for example, one of the characters would be left alone in the room. Of course something would happen. Pero sobrang nakakagulat pa rin. I’m a big scaredy-cat you know, and throughout the entire film, I alternately grab either Buen’s and Frederick’s arm, hugging either until it was blue. I watch the movie with only one squinting eye, because somehow I think, not seeing it in full would lessen the impact. Ewan ko ba. Basta ganun. Good movie, quiet realistic, and original too.

Although the rainy season kept us from our original plans, the day has not been wasted.

Fading

Yeah well, I’ve confirmed that this thing I’ve been harboring for Ran-Ai is somehow drawing to a close. Doesn’t seem to have the spark it used to have. No more thrills, no more excitement, just the same monotonous routine. Like I said, why waste your time and effort on someone who doesn’t even notice. Vin-chan said he (Ran-Ai) might have noticed, but just doesn’t respond because he thinks he doesn’t deserve me. What I forgot to tell Vin-chan is that that doesn’t happen in real life. That is something that happens only in fiction…in movies. In fantasies. In real life, one doesn’t respond to the affections of another because he doesn’t want that affection. In other words, he doesn’t want me. I really should be wallowing in misery, knowing that, but somehow, I’m OK with that now. It’s his loss, not mine. Mwehe. That’s girl power for you.

There are plenty of fish in the sea, I know. Maybe soon, I’ll start fishing again. Who knows, I might get the catch of a lifetime.

On Writing

On Writing
-endymion-

Lay down and rest, young poet
And fall asleep to the sound of falling rain
Let the wings of Somnus embrace you and
Take you to the land of dreams

Dream, young poet, dream
Of distant lands and fantastic things
Of the world beyond ours and its inhabitants
Of God’s Kingdom and his angels
The angels that fell and the angels that remained
The angels that weep and the angels that rejoice

Dream of untold romances and evil schemes
Of woeful wishes and victorious cheers
Unravel intricate lies and discover hidden truths
Dream of realities and fantasies unfulfilled

And when you wake up
Think only of writing
Let the ink flow from your fingertips
And bring your dream to life at once
Let the paper be your canvas and paint
Paint with words all what you’ve witnessed

Make haste, young poet!
The dream will not last!
Make haste, before the images flit away
And disappear forever

You may open your eyes now, young poet,
Pick up your pen and feed your soul.

A/N: I think the rain is my muse. When the rainy season rolled around, I think I got my writing mojo back. Cool.

Summer's End
POSTED AT 08:56 AM

Summer vacation is almost at it’s end. I’m not quite sure whether I should be excited or not. I mean, sure I miss my school days, seeing my classmates and friends all the time, hanging out at the benches, the overpriced food in Colayco..But I know this coming year would be the most hectic yet. My recent schedule is horrible, with 5:30 pm as its common dismissal time. This means no more hanging out at the Benches after classes. We’ll have our hospital duties too. I already got my set of uniforms from Aling Ising; ick. The fabric they used are really heavy.

At the start of summer, I wondered what else would change over the span of two months. Quite a few, I think. My friendship status with the ghorjus and the benchers. We’ve all grown closer than ever, I think. My morality has been somewhat tinged, because I now accepted the idea of incest (all thanks to the movie A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Violet and Klaus). My writing hiatus has come to an end when I helped Saich write her fic, which was quickly followed by a fic of my own and a poem. Ran-Ai’s now out of the picture, and Buen’s left Singlestown.

I’ve no idea what to expect this school year. OK maybe I have an inkling...but I can never say for sure unless I get to it.

I know half my classmates, and the other half are new. I hope they’re as cool as the former ones. Hay. Life will never be the same without Jonin and Diegs in the room. Iba talaga ang comedy nila. Sana yung new classmates ko, kasing comedy nila.

Still have Mommy G as a prof. Slavedriver, but she means well.

Here’s to hoping that this school year would have a good start. :D

Men Analyzed
POSTED AT 11:28 AM

This post contains something I got from an e-mail, explaining guy behavior and the way their mind works. It also contains my comments on the said behaviors. I would like to remind the readers that these are but my humble opinions. Don't sue, ayt? Cool.

1. Guys don't actually look after good-looking girls. They prefer neat and presentable girls.
>> i wouldn't know.

2. Guys hate flirts.
>> they do?! Hmm..maybe they hate outright flirts. They never notice the subtle ones. Yung mga simpleng pacute.

3. A guy can like you for a minute, and then forget you afterwards.
>> huh. Don’t I know it. *cough*richard*cough*

4. When a guy says he doesn't understand you, it simply means you're not thinking the way he is.

5. "Are you doing something?" or "Have you eaten already?" are the first usual questions a guy asks on the phone just to get out from stammering.
>> LOLX. Now that, is true.

6. Guys may be flirting around all day but before they go to sleep, they always think about the girl they truly care about.
>> maybe..maybe not.

7. When a guy really likes you, he'll disregard all your bad characteristics.
>> that’s right, they do. *grumbles*

8. Guys go crazy over a girl's smile.
>> nyeh.

9. Guys will do anything just to get the girl's attention.
>> oh yeah, they would. Sometimes, they overdo it.

10. Guys hate it when you talk about your ex-boyfriend.
>> mwehehehehe. Right. They do.

11. When guys want to meet your parents.let them.
>> ok! But me dad’s a little crazy, so..beware!:)

12. Guys want to tell you many things but they can't. And they sure have one habit to gain courage and spirit to tell you many things and it is drinking!
>> tama!

13. Guys cry!!!
>> uuy, si jomar. Hahaha.

14. Don't provoke the guy to heat up.believe me.he will.
>> I know. :D

15. Guys can never dream and hope too much.
>> maybe. I really don’t know

16. Guys usually try hard to get the girl who has dumped them, and this makes it harder for them to accept their defeat.
>> talaga..?

17. When you touch a guy's heart, there's no
turning back.
>> nakupo. Yan ang mahirap.

18. Giving a guy a hanging message like "You know what.uh.never mind!" would him jump to a conclusion that is far from what you are thinking.
>> ano?

19. Guys go crazy when girls touch their hands.
>> Weh?

20. Guys are good flatterers when courting but they usually stammer when they talk to a girl they really like.
>> uhmm..mwehehe..depende kasi yan eh..

21. When a guy makes a prolonged "um".or makes any excuses when you're asking him to do you a favor, he's actually saying that he doesn't like you and he can't lay down the card for you.
>> hmm..so far the guys ive asked for favors are pretty much willing. Maybe they’re too polite to refuse?

22. When a girl says "no", a guy hears it as "try again tomorrow."
>> ay nako. What a pain.

23. You have to tell a guy what you really want before he gets the message clearly.
>> Well you’d be surprised. Some guys are more perceptive than you think.

24. Guys hate gays!
>> Nako. Frederick oh!

25. Guys love their moms.
>> I think so, yeah.

26. A guy would sacrifice his money for lunch just to get you a couple of roses.
>> yeah. He would. :D

27. A guy often thinks about the girl who likes him. But this
doesn't mean that the guy likes her.
>> Leche. Why think of her in the first place? Demmit..whehehe..bitter eh no.

28. You can never understand him unless you listen to him.
>> true.

29. If a guy tells you he loves you once in a lifetime. he does.
>> not really once in a lifetime. Pero..mejo nga.

30. Beware. Guys can make gossips scatter through half of the face of the earth faster than girls can.
>> yeah. They can.

31. Like Adam.girls are guy's weaknesses.
>> much to Frederick’s dismay

32. Guys are very open about themselves.
>> Not all of ‘em.

33. It's good to test a guy first before you believe him. But don't let him wait that long.
>> Sorry na nga eh.

34. No guy is bad when he is courting
>> Malamang.

35. Guys hate it when their clothes get dirty.even a small dot.
>> Harhar. Oo nga.

36. Guys really admire girls that they like even if they're not that much pretty.
>> That’s a good thing..if the girl really does have admirable traits.

37. Your best friend, whom your boyfriend seeks help from about his problems with you may end up being admired by your boyfriend.
>> So hands off. So far, hasn’t happened yet.

38. If a guy tells you about his problems, he just needs someone to listen to him. You don't need to give advice.
>> yeah, he’ll ask you if he needs it. But..we’re girls. It’s in our nature to spout unwanted advice.

39. A usual act that proves that the guy likes you is when he teases you.
>> Hindi rin. May mga taong sadyang pang-asar lang.

40. A guy finds ways to keep you off from linking with someone else.
>> if he likes you enough.

41. Guys love girls with brains more than girls in miniskirts.
>> I sure hope so.

42. Guys try to find the stuffed toy a girl wants but would unluckily get the wrong one.
>> how cute. Just..don’t make it really wrong. Like getting a green teddy bear with uneven eyes and a tongue hanging out. Ick.

43. Guys virtually brag about anything.
>> When they’re with the boys.

44. Guys cannot keep secrets that girls tell them.
>> that’s right, they can’t. that’s why I never confide in men. Well..save for buen.

45. Guys think too much.
>> No they don’t. Most of the time, they don’t think at all.

46. Guys' fantasies are unlimited.
>> Oh? That depends, really.

47. Girls' height doesn't really matter to a guy but. her weight does!
>> Hmph!

48. Guys tend to get serious with their relationship and become too possessive. so watch out girls!!!
>> Hmm..that depends too. But isn’t that a good thing? At least, when it’s not too much

49. When a girl makes the boy suffer during courtship,it would
be hard for him to let go
>> doi. If you’ve worked hard for something, of course you wouldn’t let it go without a fight.

First Week Back
POSTED AT 04:10 PM

Let’s just say that sophomore year has ‘welcome to the real world’ written all over it.

Why?

For starters, our first day consisted of commuting to an unknown place for our first orientation. Never mind that the orientation was a complete waste of time. The ride over and back was a damned experience, and I know that it’s going to happen again..a lot of times. The first speaker babbled on and on about goodness knows what inserting corny Star Wars and Full House jokes here and there. Second speaker spoke of maternity nursing in detail, and in a tone so monotonous, it’d give the phone line a run for its money.

Mommy G was our very first class of the new school year, and already she gave us an assignment. Huh. Some things just never change.

We got 2 lists of books we needed to get. That’s almost 7000 pesos in one sitting. I never thought I’d see the day that I’d hate the sight of books. Really REALLY thick ones at that.

Also met our professor for Fundamentals of Nursing. I can tell by the way she speaks that she knows what she’s talking about, and that she damn well knows how to impart what she knows to us. She told us a lot of stories in the ward, in the clinical divisions and such. And you know what, one line she said slapped me straight in the face and forced me out of my mental vacation.

“You all have the license to kill.”

We do. No really. That’s what reminded me of what I got myself into in the first place. This year, we start our clinical duties, and soon enough we’d be handling real patients. One wrong move, our patient’s life could be at stake. And what’s worse, we can be sued for it. I shudder at the very thought.

And you know what’s weird? Instead of frightening me out of my wits and shift somewhere else before it’s too late, I found myself strangely inspired and excited of what we are about to face. It’s going to be a nice change from reading book texts and writing reports and all that. Sure we still need to do all that, but now we get to apply what we learned into real life. That’s got to be interesting, right?

I just hope I don’t screw up.

It’s good to see my old friends and classmates again. I miss Marj, my old partner-in-crime. The admin realphabetized us, and we got into different sections. So now, I’m hanging around Mela, Trish, Michelle, Jam, Ethel and Gie. The smart bunch in class. Sabit lang ako. Nice of ‘em to let lazy, noisy, crazy me tag along, since they’ve been a group for a long time.

I never really got to bond with my classmates that much during freshman year, because I was always with the Benchers. Now the tables are turned, and I think I’m going to spend more time with my classroom buds and a lot less time in the Benches. All the same, my Friday afternoons are reserved for the Benchers. I suppose its about time for me to create stronger bonds with my classmates. After all, we’d be a class for the rest of our college lives.

Huh. Three days into sophie year and I’m already exhausted. God give me strength.

Til’ next week.

School Blahs
POSTED AT 06:46 AM

It has been quite an interesting week. Formally started our lessons, you see.

Unsurprisingly, our week started off with Mommy G. Micro-Para really isn't that different from Zoology. We're still dealing with organisms and microscopes and all 'em unseen creepy-crawlies. Sometimes, I become really surprised to find out that I actually learned something from her class that I can apply in real life. She couldn't come to class last Wednesday. Poor Mommy was sick. I have this inkling that we'll be having makeup classes any day now...

Our English prof seems so different from my past professors. Professor Cordova is a real sweetheart, and I love her to bits. I had her in our in my freshman first sem, and she taught us well. I think the entire class loved her too, because we were so at ease with her and at the same time, maintained a student-teacher atmosphere. She's one of those people who deserved respect, even without her asking for it. Professor Casela is another story. She doesn't have the same..ermm..quality as Professor Cordova, but I suppose she's nice enough.

Professor Avena is our current English teacher. Very articulate woman, and I suppose she knows her stuff. Her presence commands respect, but she always seems so distant. She hardly smiles, let alone laughs in class, when some of my blockmates tell jokes. I feel like I couldn't approach her as we felt we could Prof. Cordova and Prof Casela. But, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

First RLE encounters...orientation in the Nursing Audi. Floorplan making ing the CLinical Division and UST Pay Hospital. Got to bond with my RLE groupmates. Of course, there's Gie, Chief and Tinfa. New girls are Becca (quite a chatterbox she is..^^; ), Chaz (silent type, medyo) and Bernadette (a sweetie and fellow bookworm). THe boys, Lance (heard a lot about him from Marj and Gian), Gabe (lives alone, family are all in the US) and Dennis (people call him Kuya, since he's a little older than the rest of us). So far, we've been getting along great. The Get To Know You activities we've had were so much fun. Our Clinical instructor is also our CHN professor. Sir Joey. Laid-back dude. I like him a lot. He's a funny guy. Kolokoy. Chief and I always have laughing fits when Sir Joey talks. I think we'll have a good time working with him.

Sister Vinoya wasn't as bad as we all thought. She's a good professor actually. SHe has a lot of stories, but all of them are related to our lessons in Philosophy, one way or another.

Sir Aga, AnaPhysio Prof, reminds me a lot of Sir Manabat. They both have this...bouncy jolly teacher aura about them. And Sir Manabat was one of my favorite teachers. I hope I'm right in thinking that Sir Aga and Sir Manababs have some things in common.

Shouldn't forget our thoroughly enjoyable Fundamentals of Nursing lessons. Professor Ignacio is one hell of a prof, and I'm loving her already. And now she's our Class Adviser. Whoopee! :D My first 2 quizzes for her class are...good! Astig! Off to a good start, aren't we?

New prospect as well. I've got my eye on someone..someone really hot. Music-lover, sports-minded, and from what I've seen, someone really deep and mature. So damn perfect. New reason to go to school for. :D

Right now...I'm still waiting for the CWTS Module. Lech. Arte ah. Gusto pa online. Matagal siya in fairness.

Later!:D

Which Kind of Girlfriend are You?
created with QuizFarm.com

Hoeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
You're a Magical Girl!
You're sugar-hyped, caffeine-hyped, and permanently genki-er than a whole busload of Disney characters on crack. You eat too much, you're a total klutz, and somehow this makes you an ideal candidate for saving the world. If you're really unlucky, you get to get naked in an embarrassing transformation sequence in every single episode, with only a few sparkles and pastel blobs to cover your dignity.

Which generic anime character are you?

You Are a Prophet Soul

You are a gentle soul, with good intentions toward everyone. Selfless and kind, you have great faith in people. Sometimes this faith can lead to disappoinment in the long run. No matter what, you deal with everything in a calm and balanced way. You are a good interpreter, very sensitive, intuitive, caring, and gentle. Concerned about the world, you are good at predicting people's feelings. A seeker of wisdom, you are a life long learner looking for purpose and meaning. You are a great thinker and communicator, but not necessarily a doer. Souls you are most compatible with: Bright Star Soul and Dreaming Soul

Mall Trip
POSTED AT 03:14 PM

Today's the first time in several months that I've stepped foot inside a mall with my friends. It was kind of refreshing.

It wasn't anything planned. I went to UST because I was having trouble accessing my CWTS account at home (dial-up connection..go figure), so I decided to rent a PC in a shop. The net cafe's around here have the same slow connection so I might as well meet up with my friends and do the CWTS thing with them. Gian said his car was available, and since none of us were ready to go home, we decided to go see a movie in Robinson's Place. Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I know, I know. I never had the time to go see it, so sue me.

Nakakainggit isipin na marami na sa mga kaibigan ko ang marunong magdrive. Gusto ko na rin matuto!

Mr. and Mrs Smith. It was ok, though it could do with a better conclusion. More closure, you know? But it was very entertaining, to say the least.

Had a good time laughing and talking with Frederick, Gian and Buen. Saich wasn't able to make it because she was sick. Maryosep. Namimiss ko yung babaeng yun ah. Tagal ko ring di nakausap ng matino yun eh.

Brought home a Gonuts Donuts Dozen for Tita Ging and the two sibs. Hah. Sabi namang the best ang Gonuts Donuts eh, ayaw pang maniwala.

I suppose this would be the last mall trip I'd be having for a very long time. Sophomore year's a toughie, but I guess I'll manage.

Do you want to know what your tarot card is?

Positive: The Star represents hopes and dreams and the optimism associated with realizing ones hearts desires. The Star is the initial spark of hope that arises from the dust when everything around us seems desolate and bleak. The Star is a renewal of faith in life and our Creator. It represents regeneration and renewal of all the good that life has to offer. The Star also represents the limitless possibilities that life has to offer, from our childish wishes to the high ideals we hold as adults. The Star is the guiding light we have been wishing on all of our lives in hopes of a better tomorrow. While similar to the motivation behind The Fool card, The Star differs in that we have hope beyond whatever our fears may bring. It represents a moment of peace, a reflection of light, or the wonderment of a child.

Negative: Reversed this card represents the loss of all hope, a pessimistic attitude, or succumbing to depression. It can also depict an overly rational point of view or one without any ideals. A minimalist or someone without motivation.
