Hay Salamat
POSTED AT 01:16 PM

...is one of the few things I can really say right now. It denotes gratitude and, at the same time, relief. That challenge is over now (I hope), and I'm glad it ended in a positive way. So thank you, thank you.

Whoever said "strike the iron while it's hot", he's right.

Wag mo na hintaying lumamig, dahil titigas lamang 'yon at hindi mo na matitibag pa. Tanggapin mo na lang lahat ng dapat, kaysa iwasan at patagalin pa, dahil magiging mas malala lang ang lahat.

Hanep, tagalog yun ah.

But yes, I am glad. :)

New Layout!
POSTED AT 04:05 PM

Found this layout while browsing 'round on the net, and I loved it at once.

Cool eh?

There are still a few kinks that I can't seem to fix (my navbar's missing!), and I ditched the 'eyes' from seriesofunfortunateevents.com. They seem too big for this layout, but I may put them back when I change layouts again.

Yeah well. It's late, and I'm full of pizza. I'm off to bed. I have two more days to complete everything I have to do, so I'll need my rest.

Intradermal return-demos are coming up. Wish me luck.

Ja ne!

So Quiz Me and Smile For Me..Ay corny yun ah..hehe
POSTED AT 01:38 PM

Slow and Steady

Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment. They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.

That's weird...really? I think I'm much more of the flighty type, but I suppose there are some things I just don't know about myself. Hmm..

You are dependable, popular, and observant. Deep and thoughtful, you are prone to moodiness. In fact, your emotions tend to influence everything you do. You are unique, creative, and expressive. You don't mind waving your freak flag every once and a while. And lucky for you, most people find your weird ways charming!

Yeah, freak flags rule! Mwaha.
In a Past Life...

You Were: A Mute Jester.
Where You Lived: West Africa.
How You Died: Typhoid fever.

Figures that I'd still be something like a clown in my past life..
Your Hidden Talent

You are both very knowledgeable and creative. You tend to be full of new ideas and potential - big potential. Ideas like yours could change the world, if you build them. As long as you don't stop working on your dreams, you'll get there.

Oooooooohkaaaay.
You Are 50% Weird

Normal enough to know that you're weird... But too damn weird to do anything about it!

Who's weird? Am I weird? Honestly, am I? Nyahaha.
What Your Dreams Mean...

Your dreams seem to show that you're very preoccupied with your fears and problems. These bad dreams indicate that you need to spend more time on your issues during the day.

Hala. I have issues that I don't know about? Damn I need some serious me-time.

If Life Gives You Oranges...
POSTED AT 01:54 PM

Puncture them repeatedly at 90o with syringes. Ehehe. Wala lang. We practiced intramuscular injections in Skills Lab using oranges (obviously we can't practice on ourselves nor our partners) today, and I can't get over it. It was a lot of fun. Poor orange. ^.^

Did well on my Ana-Physio and Funda quizzes. Dapat lang no, nag-aral ako para dun eh. The Ana-Physio practical for muscular system is another story. A not-so-good-one. I will have to make up for it on the next practical exam.

Started culturing all them revolting stuff for Micro-Para. Our Protozoa report went smoothly, thank goodness.

I did well on my intradermal return demo. Yey.

Since I don't have the time, and the money, to watch the movie rendition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I read the book. I had a good time reading it, I'm thinking of reading Roald Dahl's other works (including Matilda and James and the GIant Peach, which are two of my favorite movies of all time).

It was his birthday yesterday. I'm usually a pretty confident person, but I'm reduced to this tongue-tied snob when he's around. And when he leaves, that's when I could think of all the witty (or possibly funny) things I could have said. I'd feel like banging my head on the desk when that happens. I'm not sure whether or not I should talk to him. He barely knew me, if at all. I heard somewhere that he's a self-centered freak. yeah well, he's got to have a flaw somewhere.  Chief says he thinks that he knew me (probably by face), but is just too intimidated. Natatarayan lang daw yun, kung baga. Maybe next time I should speak up. Err..whatever.

It's been raining the entire week. Oh how I want to just curl up and hibernate until the rainy season ends, but alas. I was not granted such pleasures.

Spent Friday afternoon in Chowking bantering and laughing with Saich, Buen and Pao in spite of the treacherous weather outside. The streets were already flooded but none of us really cared. All we needed were a some food, the oranges and syringes we used for Funda, and our imagination and we had the time of our lives. MWehehe. I think the Chowking people would post a ban on syringes and oranges, and freaky nursing people from now on.

A little off-topic buuuut....there are posters of Paolo tacked on the NCBS bulletin board. I couldn't help snorting in laughter whenever I pass by it on my way to class. Not to be evil but...well..he's Pao. And he's on a poster. If you knew him at all, you'd know why this is so funny.

Been missing my mom. Ma'am Ignacio, our Funda prof, reminds me a lot of her. No, they do not look a thing like each other, but the way they speak are so similar. I think if my mom ever considered a career in education, they would have exactly the same style in teaching and explaining.

Mela might come over tomorrow to work on our English presentation and basically, just chill.

I've been on a diet all week. Marami nang nagsabing tumaba ako, and this would simply not do. Mag-dedebut ako no, at hindi ako pwedeng magmukhang suman. Vain na kung vain, but I don't want to look like I've been gorging myself with all things fatty but sinfully dee-lish (which is exactly what I have been doing). So I'm stocking up on Century Tuna and Skyflakes, and getting rid of all chocolate-containing food from my regimen. No rice if I can help it. Possible exceptions are Wok Thursdays and Bencher Fridays (and even then, I'm not going to engross myself  to much). It's torture watching all those crepes and banana splits passing you by. This is no fun at all, but at least I get to save my money. Wish me luck on this. Sana nga pumayat ako. Mwehe.

Epal si Nero. Grabe siya. EWAN. I would not elaborate anymore, because it would annoy me further but I assure anyone who's reading this that if they were in my position, they would be annoyed as hell too.

Ang dami nang may MP3 players, naiiinggit ako.

Yun lang.

Happy Birthday
POSTED AT 08:06 AM

Sa epal kong utol. Ehe. Yeah, well, blood is always thicker than water they always say, so no matter how much I try to hate him sometimes, I just couldn't. He's my brother after all.

Itaas mo tsong. Kinse ka na. Magbago ka na sana, utang na loob.

Anyway...

Spent my Saturday with Kat and Mela, who both didn't want to spend theirs at home. Picked them up at UST at around 11:30 and got here in my house in time for lunch. Well, actually, Tita still wasn't done making lunch when we arrived, so we helped her finish up. We prepared the mussels for baking and made the dumplings ourselves (Kat, Mela and I). Mwehe. Had a good time doing that. Baked mussels and fried dumplings. There goes the whole week of dieting. Sayang, hindi pwede sila Saich. Would've invited them over as well, if they didn't have an RLE that afternoon. Made sock puppets for our English "Dialects" presentation after filling ourselves to bursting.

There's an acquaintance party for the nursing people this Thursday. Rica and I are planning on going, and we might invite Kat and Jasmin as well. It's been so long since we all got together, and this seems like a good opportunity. Buen and Saich said they might not go. Hope they change their minds, so we could all go together.

Anyhoo, the Benchers are planning quite a lot of adventures for the Christmas and Summer Break. Sem Break is reserved for my debut's planning stage and practice for the cotillion. Christmas Party at Gian's is still on, and then a week (?) at Girlie's place at Laguna this summer. Night outs and laughtrips galore are under way. Ayup. Parang tumatanda na nga kami ah. Usually, I would say "Di pa'ko sure, magpapaalam muna ako." These days I find myself saying "Sure, kelan?" Hahaha. Ayos.

I'm off to hit the books. Another Ana-Physio practical exam this week, and a quiz for Micro-Para. How fun. -___-;

Ja ne.

In Dire Need of Stresstabs
POSTED AT 01:07 PM

Busy busy week I’ve had, oh yes.

Had quizzes everyday (long ones I might add) for the past week, and I feel so exhausted. It’s really quite stressful, this course of mine. And then there’re the hassles of CWTS. Why can’t we just do something productive, like community service or something? At least that’d feel more rewarding than just sitting on our butts for how many hours trying to make sense of their so-called educational modules. It’s a waste of time, energy and internet card. And I’m taking up nursing for cripes sake. I would dedicate the rest of my life in the service of other people. Do they not realize how much stress they are burdening us with?

I think the only highlights of the week that I can remember are my “conversation” with him last Tuesday and the puppet show we did for English. Judging by my classmates’ raucous laughter, I’d say our little show was a big hit.

Went to Aurora Health Center for RLE. Spent at least fifty pesos for my fare going to and from the place. Road trip, only not as fun. Epal ah. Sinabing nagtitipid ako eh, lech.

I think I did OK in my Ana-Physio Quiz and Practical Exam for the Skeletal System. Thank God.

I’m starting to hate Philo.

Some professors should learn to warn their students when they’re going to start PMSing.

I’m not even looking forward to this weekend, because I know I’ll be facing a huge workload. Assignments and activities and a whole lot of reading and reviewing. Egads.

The Bottom Line
Don't let your assumptions hold you back from what could be. Think big.

In Detail
You've been so busy double-checking the bottom line and dotting all the i's and crossing the t's that you forgot to check in on that little thing called your life. It's true that others depend on you, but you have to make taking care of yourself a priority as well. Right now is an ideal time to work on ways to expand your horizons so you don't feel stifled by your daily routine. Find ways to flex your freedom no matter how small.

Today's Forecast
Paint the town red? It'll be practically ultraviolet once you're through with it. You've been doing your duty for so very long that you've almost forgotten what it's like to let your hair down.

The Bottom Line
You're really able to understand where someone's coming from when you listen.

In Detail
Take refuge from your worldly cares in the company of two of your favorite things: friends and art. They'll be delighted to be a part of your impromptu plans, and it may surprise you how much you'll enjoy this mini vacation. Go ahead and gather a group of your closest friends and wander through your favorite museum or botanical garden. It'll replenish your soul and refresh you in all the ways that you need.

Huh. Even my Friendster horoscopes know how hectic my life has been recently. Can’t wait for Bencher Friday so I can forget these freakin’ hassles, even for a couple of hours.

I’m off to review for CHN and Funda. Ja.

Procrastinating Yet Again
POSTED AT 10:31 AM

Stress levels temporarily alleviated by the four-day weekend. Been able to catch up on my sleep, and very much thankful for it. Ended my week by watching the Nursing Sophomore vs. Freshmen basketball game. Sophies won by one, measly point, but I was glad.

Instead of studying for my upcoming finals, I’ve been contacting the participants and possible guests for my debut on November. I know it’s early but I want all the details ready by the time October rolls around. I have my emcees, and all those 18 thingies. Choreographer for the cotillion confirmed now, so is the seamstress who would be making the dresses for my cotillionaires. Completed the 20% downpayment for my catering service, and saw an actual setup of my venue. The party planning is going well.

Been feeling a little low in terms of self-esteem. Argel, my elementary school best bud, contacted me some time ago and invited me for her 18th birthday too. Well...all my elem bestfriends look..fabulous. Like highschool in an all-girl school has made them absolutely bloom whereas I..well..let’s just say I’, nowhere near as fab..you get the picture. And I’ve been obssessing over my weight too. It’s all so shallow. So superficial, but I just can’t seem to let the issue go. I want to bang my head on the wall. I have more important things to worry about (been having troubles with my brother again, you see) and yet I’m obssessing over trivial things like my weight. It’s all so stupid, really.

The good stuff that I’m looking forward to right now are:
1. Frederick’s birthday blowout – its this Saturday at Moomba (sp?). Ghorjus 4, Benchers and some Sputnik members would be there (I think), and I’m sure this is going to be one fun night.
2. Argel’s 18th – other than my insecurity issues, I’m looking forward to my old friends again.
3. Mela’s 18th – not sure yet what we’re doing then, but it’s going to be a blast.

But of course..there is still that one teeny tiny hurdle called the Preliminary Exams.

*sigh*

I really should go back to studying now. Really.

*scrambles for the remote control*

x Tarot x

Do you want to know what your tarot card is?

Positive: The Star represents hopes and dreams and the optimism associated with realizing ones hearts desires. The Star is the initial spark of hope that arises from the dust when everything around us seems desolate and bleak. The Star is a renewal of faith in life and our Creator. It represents regeneration and renewal of all the good that life has to offer. The Star also represents the limitless possibilities that life has to offer, from our childish wishes to the high ideals we hold as adults. The Star is the guiding light we have been wishing on all of our lives in hopes of a better tomorrow. While similar to the motivation behind The Fool card, The Star differs in that we have hope beyond whatever our fears may bring. It represents a moment of peace, a reflection of light, or the wonderment of a child.

Negative: Reversed this card represents the loss of all hope, a pessimistic attitude, or succumbing to depression. It can also depict an overly rational point of view or one without any ideals. A minimalist or someone without motivation.
